Photography has been a passion of mine since I discovered the darkroom at school but it's only been recently that I've rekindled my desire to take pictures. I tend to follow my nose and take instinctive shots and I prefer to be outside walking and shooting rather than being closeted in a studio. Like most modern photographers I use a digital camera. The possibility to manipulate a digital image is infinite so it's important to me to keep my pictures as natural and untampered with as possible.

The work of James Ravilious, Edwin Smith and Fay Godwin have had the biggest influence on me.  I consider documentary photography to be of great importance and whilst the images, at the time of taking, don't always have obvious impact, it is in the years that follow that the images grow in strength and stir memories in the viewer.  Under increasingly restrictive laws being introduced in the UK to restrict photographers from taking images in public places,  documentary photography is in danger of being killed off for good.
