"Brown Bear" - alabaster

I am a self taught artist working in a variety of different stones. My inspiration comes from the wild and wonderful world of nature, and from shamanic dreams, ancient folklore, myth and story. I love the simplicity of the stone carving process, there are no toxic chemicals involved and i use no power tools,  - just mallet, chisels and stone, presence of mind and awareness of body. It is a quiet and  meditative process that brings me closer to Earth herself .

I find in every stone a secret waiting to be born, a silent beauty, a hidden humble power, a shard of lost wisdom. Something that perhaps was always there but lain forgotten under the rock of ages slowly reveals itself with quiet dignity.
