Clare Diprose

Woods and water recur in my work - I am an enthusiastic summer swimmer of rivers - and for Somerset Art Week 2006, I made large scale pieces, based on swimmers, to float from a tree by the brook in Jane Paterson?s garden in Butleigh.

The interaction, real or mythical, between figures and the environment underpins much of my work. I am drawn to skylines, patterns of light on water, the turn of a head or hand; small visions that enrich the mundane. Felt is my main medium, and I enjoy the physical and tactile nature of the process, manipulating areas of intense colour.

I exhibit regularly, mainly with the South West Textile Group and took part in their touring shows Response to Eden in 2004-7 and Bound/Unbound in 2005-7. My cards are available at Black Swan Arts in Frome, and my work is also at the Thomas Shop Gallery, Penybont, Powys.
