I undertook a career in Graphic Design before training at Chelsea College of Art & design where I gained a BA (Honours in Textile Design. As part of the course I completed a thesis on Recycling in Art and Design, which still echos in my work today. I love the concept of re-using junk materials creatively and the obsession has led me into using rubbish and found objects to produce such things as jewellery, papier mache sculptures, screens and bowls, and rugs from rags. Since moving to the West Country five years ago I have been influenced by the local scenery to return to landscape painting in which I use mixed media, acrylic, watercolour and collage. Once again, my love of rejuvenating old materials has come to the fore and whilst wondering what to do with saved trimmings and offcuts from my paintings I hit on the idea of collaging them together to re-invent new landscapes which are reminiscent of one's glimpses of the countryside caught whilst travelling. Moving on, I am currently enjoying painting still lifes in a naive style which is quite new to me.
