I am a glass beadmaker. I work with the technique of lampwork, using an open flame to heat glass until semi molten, then winding the glass onto a thin stainless steel rod to form a bead. Other colours of glass, enamel and silver and gold leaf are used to add decoration. Finally my beads are placed in a digitally controlled kiln where the glass is annealed to remove any stress caused by working it in the flame.
Many of my beads are sold to jewellery designers and collectors from my website. I make others up into my own jewellery for sale in galleries, fairs or direct from my studio (by appointment only).
Earlier this year I was delighted to be asked to submit my work to the Tempest Exhibition and the Glass Biennial in Stourbridge, the centre of the UK glass industry.
