LESLEY RANDS
Lampwork Glass Bead & Jewellery Artist
![]()
Melting Glass (or lampworking) is a fabulous occupation to be involved with. Using a propane & oxygen torch flame, rods of glass are melted and wound around stainless mandrels and then decorated to create miniature works of art.
I have been lampworking for almost four years now and not a day goes by without me learning new techniques and skills. I have been a regular project contributor to both ‘Beads & Beyond’ and ‘Making Jewellery’ magazines and I have just finished writing the technical section of a ‘Creative Lampwork’ book which is to be published by the Guild of Master Craftsmen in September 2010.
I work from a very small studio at my home in Burnham-on-Sea, but I am now looking into the feasibility of opening either a workshop or studio where visitors can come both to watch me work or indeed to take classes. I would be very interested if any fellow artists are able to advise me of any suitable premises within the south Somerset area.
I am very keen to network with local artists and take part in craft shows and exhibitions and am very much looking forward to taking part in the Somerset Art Weeks. If any other SAW member or local artist is interesting in working together I would love to hear from them.

Join me as a friend on face book and be sure not to miss new beads & jewellery as they are added to my website
