My work can be taken at face value - merely the age-old medium of pigment on a ground. The objects I use in the work can also be taken at face value; forms organised in an aesthetic way producing a picture or artefact.
However, these same objects have been created as symbols or signs and are open to interpretation. The meanings are layered and enigmatic and for this I offer no apology. I hope that by studying my paintings the viewer will be lead along a path that is personal to each individual and that the unconscious will be stirred in the same way that staring into the flames of a fire throws up recollections and thoughts.
