I graduated from Somerset College in 2009 where I gained a first class BA (hons) in Fine Art. Currently I am embarking on the second year of my Masters in Fine Art at Plymouth University which I study part time alongside working as a bookseller and acting as blogger in residence for SAW. In some way or another all my work is about tools. What started off on my degree as an interest in drawing everyday and banal objects has become an obsession in using tools as both the subject matter and now more recently using the tools themselves as a means to make the work (specifically, using a hammer to create marks during the mono printing process). My recent work features tools from the 'Museum of Somerset' collections where I researched hurdle making and thatching tools. Some of the works are mono prints of the objects and others are pieces inspired by museum modes of display and presentation that I saw. I continue to be fascinated at what interpretations tools as objects hold and how I can use that to create new work.
