Layered Landscape
When Peter first took part in the SAW open studios event in 2006 his work was described as “layered landscape”. The phrase refers to the artist’s fascination with the layered geology revealed in rock faces at the coast; flaking render on old buildings and torn posters on billboards. Correspondingly in the work the artist builds richly layered surfaces sometimes sanding back areas and applying new paint and other media. The resulting lively abstract works on both canvas and paper vary from very small scale to much larger pieces.
Peter opens his studio again in September for the biennial SAW open studios event. Throughout the event Peter’s studio will be open Thursday to Sunday from 11am- 6pm.
Peter is also a member of Wayward which is a group of graduates and MA students operating as a critical forum and mutual support organisation: waywardart.org
