SAWs Exhibitions and Events Programme
I am pleased as the lead artist at our Hartlandart home gallery, to be able to offer another exciting viewing experience this year. All our visitors last year enjoyed the diversity of the art on show. The old orchard, now the garden, is the site for five external installations this year, with several smaller installations within the gallery. The overall theme for the work is ‘Residue’ which includes interesting aspects of oxidisation, and the by products of engineering practice, which are discarded in general production, but offer a dramatic and austere beauty. As artistic works there is a poignant metaphor between industrial waste, and the human condition. So much human endeavour is wasted because of inability to comprehend man’s full potential, and to recognise beauty in unlikely places. The ‘Residue’ theme carries on throughout the exhibition, in photography, glass work and painting. This year I am joined by my husband David Hartland MA, a design engineer exhibiting 3D work, and visiting portrait artist Christopher JL Goss.
We are open every day except Monday and Tuesday during SAW11. ‘Talks and Tea’ are offered to any interested groups by prior arrangement.
We have off road parking and welcome wheelchair users who have a flat ride into the gallery.
Sorry we cannot offer toilet facilities.
We are self funding.
