Sam uses painting and printmaking techniques to explore qualities of surface texture, colour and pattern.

Sources of inspiration are many and varied, including the natural world but the early origins of crafts such as paper making and printmaking and the ancient cultures where they began hold a particular fascination for her.

Text has also begun to play a part in her work and is either incorporated or used as a starting point for further explorations.
