Sue Liby

Sue Liby works in stoneware clay, creating both functional and decorative pieces.

She has been involved in ceramics for over 30 years, originally working with her husband in London,
where they had a stall at the Covent Garden Apple market.
They moved to somerset in 1986.

Growing up in the Pennines much of her work is influenced by the landscapes around her.

Hand built crankware bowls are carved and decorated with oxides, depicting both the local Somerset environment
and wilder, more rugged places close to her heart, both real and imagery.


Finer stoneware is used for wheel thrown clay work. Hanging vessels, functional hand painted pots and tiny tactile glazed bowls.
