Message from the SAW Chair

Welcome to the ‘new look’ SAW/Somerset Art Works website, which we hope you will find informative, useful and easy to use.

The re-naming of SAW to stand for Somerset Art Works, is seen to better represent the broad nature of the organisation’s activities and overall purpose and is part of a wider re-branding exercise.

SAW grew out of the original biennial Somerset Art Week event, which began in a small way in 1994. In 2000 the Somerset Art Week organisation became SAW Ltd. The new organisation had a much wider remit and was set up to support and provide opportunities of all kinds for artists and makers throughout Somerset. This was and continues to be achieved through the organisation of the, now, annual Art Weeks, major projects and the provision of bursaries and commissions. Our links with other arts and business organisations are essential to these activities.

Current information about a wide variety of professional training workshops, opportunities to get involved in community projects and activities, participate in both small and large exhibitions and much, much more is made available on the SAW website and up-dated regularly.

The SAW website also provides all of its members with their own pages, which they can change and up-date at will, using their own text and images. Members of the public, gallery owners and potential individual buyers and, of course, other artists have access to these pages as well as the listings and general information.

I, personally, am delighted to have been involved all the recent changes and look forward to SAW’s continuing success and future development.
