What is Curatorial Services?
In the contemporary art world, curatorial often means an exhibition that involves a curator that can bring specific knowledge and expertise in presenting art works in a specific location and context. The aims often are about presenting works in their best way to communicate to the viewer. It involves selection of artists and works, interpreting the works, presenting the works, placing captions and statement, and profiling the artist and the exhibition. Many individual and organisations may not have specific person or team to provide support in this area, therefore, SAW hope to provide this service in order to support individual and organisations in Somerset, to increase the profile of artists in Somerset and to build audience in the visual art in the County.
Our service provides tailor-made service to support your needs during curatorial process, including conceptualisation, research, selection of work, liaise with artists, budgeting, produce marketing and publicity materials, and installation. We can also provide you administration support, marketing and publicity and budgeting and financial management from our staff team.
The service is suitable for a gallery or an organisation in need of curatorial support to produce exhibition or work to display in specific venue or for specific event, or an individual artist or a group who wish to work with a curator to produce a show, event and publication.
If you already have a project in mind or are looking for curatorial support, we offer one hour free consultation to assess your needs. Please contact SAW office by email info@somersetartworks.org.uk to discuss.
