Somerset Art Weeks is a two-week visual arts festival that has been running every other year since September 1994. From 2008, Somerset Art Weeks has become an annual event. Art Weeks is the largest visual arts event in Somerset, offering open studios, exhibitions and events across the whole county, and provides a unique opportunity for the public to meet artists and to view their work. The event not only successfully creates business opportunities for artists, galleries and organisations, it also benefits local businesses such as design, printing, cafés, tourist attractions, accommodation providers and transport.

In 2008, Art Weeks attracted more than 60,000 visitors. This year’s Art Weeks will run from 18 September to 3 October focusing on Open Studios; a special event showcasing more than 250 artists and makers working within Somerset. With the aim of increasing public access to the arts as well as promoting artists in Somerset and their creative talents, benefits of the event also include creating networking and business opportunities.
