This year, SAW presents a programme of events and exhibitions which highlights the quality and diversity of work created by Somerset artists. SAW has partnered with many art organisations in Somerset to allow visitors the opportunity to sample the work on offer during art weeks.

Artists at Work

Exhibition duration - 11th Sept to 9th Oct.
Opening times - Tues to Sat, 10am to 5.30pm.
Venue - Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre,Coal Orchard, Taunton, Somerset TA1 1JL

The exhibition features film installations and photographic work that highlights the making process behind the artists’ creativity, such as their inspiration, influence and environment. The aim is to raise the profile of individual artists in Somerset and promote their practices. A must see exhibition during your visit.

Venue - Tithe Barn, Cotley, Chard, Somerset TA20 3EP

 Site-specific and multi-media work created within Cotley Barn inspired by its surrounding environment. Exhibition features sound and film installation by Hacker Farm, mixed media work by Gary Dickins, large painting/prints by Natalie Parsley and site-specific installation
work by Liz Fathers which explores the history and familiarity of the Barn and the surrounding area. Family friendly. Refreshments available on Saturday and Sunday.

Venue - Ilminster Arts Centre at the Meeting House, East Street, Ilminster, Somerset TA19 0AN

Part of the Art Weeks exhibition programme organized by SAW’s curatorial services featuring a selection of affordable and high quality artwork from many of the artists participating in the Open Studios Event. The exhibition will include paintings, prints & sculptures. A ‘must visit’ during Art Weeks this year.

Young Talent at The Octagon Theatre
(Venue 57, South Somerset)

For Art Weeks this year, The Octagon is becoming the central hub for young people’s creativity. The Young Art Promoters (YAP), a group between the ages of 11 and 19 from Somerset, present a series of findings following some unusual creative interactions in and about Yeovil. Working with live artist Nina Wyllie, around the issues
of identity, this exhibition will document the aftermath of these exchanges whilst inviting you to play your part.

Kitty Hillier - Winner of the Reveal Emerging Artist Award 2010

Since graduating in 2007, Kitty has continued to develop her contemporary works on wood. Kitty received the Reveal Emerging Artist Award in 2009 and has developed a series of new works. Alongside her paintings, she hopes to give the viewer more of an insight into the process by including a number of drawings and prints.

Works include ceramics, textiles, paintings, jewellery, glass and mixed-media. A ‘must visit’ during your trip; a great way to see a diverse range of work created by Somerset artists.
