For this year’s festival, The Octagon, is becoming the central hub for young people’s creativity, presenting a series of 3 inspiring exhibitions.
The Young Art Promoters (YAP), a group between the ages of 11 and 19, from Somerset, present a series of findings following some unusual creative interactions in and about Yeovil. Working with live artist Nina Wyllie, around the issues of identity, this exhibition will document the aftermath of these exchanges whilst inviting you to play your part. (YAP are supported by Spaeda) Somerset Rural Youth Project, as part of SAW’s Making Matters, present a selection of photographic images. Created by the shared experience of young and older generations working together.
Also exhibiting will be a signpost show of works from local schools and colleges; including Yeovil College, Westfield Community School, Fiveways School and the following Art Weeks venues: King’s College Taunton, Bruton School for Girls and Blue School.
Special Public Event: 2 October 11 am – 12 noon
Presented and organised by Spaeda (Somerset Arts Education Partnership). Curated by SAW’s Curatorial Services. This project aims to promote and develop wider audience to the Art Weeks event.
