John Hilliard makes wonderfully atmospheric images inspired by the region's coastline.  Broadly expressionist in character, the paintings capture the nature of light, mist and water in swirls of paint and colour reminiscent of J.M.W. Turner.  The exhibition comprises oils on canvas and a series of vivid pastels on paper.  Hilliard's work is not widely known; for many it is a first opportunity to see the work of this remarkable artist.
